If your Motorhome will not start at home, a Rescue Operator will come and spend up to one hour to fix it. If it cannot be repaired, it will be taken to a local garage.
Roadside Assistance
Assistance anywhere in the UK with a network of over 3,500 technicians and an average response time of 35 minutes. We will spend up to an hour at the roadside trying to fix the vehicle.
National Recovery
If your Motorhome can’t be fixed at the roadside it can be taken to a local garage, your final destination or back home.
Onward Travel
Alternative travel for the driver and up to 6 passengers, this can include car hire and/or emergency overnight accommodation.
The Vehicle is Covered
Anyone insured to drive the Motorhome is covered for the breakdown assistance.

Breakdowns often catch us off guard, so if an emergency arises, it’s vital that you know the correct steps to take.
The most important thing to do is stay calm as you pull your motorhome as far off the road as you can.
Switch on your hazard lights and call us on 01704 225544 in the UK, or +441704 225544 from other parts of Europe, and let us know the situation.
If you can, use the map on your smartphone to pinpoint your exact location so that one of our recovery operators can reach you quicker.
If you have a warning triangle, put it up and lift your bonnet (weather permitting) so it’s easier for us to find you in the area.
When we arrive, which is usually within the hour, we’ll show you our ID and get to work trying to repair your vehicle straight away.
If – for any reason – we can’t fix your problem, we’ll tow your motorhome to the closest garage and provide alternative travel and/or emergency accommodation for the night until everything is back up and running.
At Driver Guardian, we only ever sell fully comprehensive motorhome recovery insurance, and all of our policies include:
• Homestart – if your motorhome breaks down before you even get chance to set off, we’ll come out to your home and spend an hour trying to repair it. If for any reason we’re unable to fix the problem, we’ll tow your motorhome to your local garage for them to further investigate.
• Roadside assistance – if you break down whilst you’re out and about, our recovery operators can come out – usually within an hour – to repair your motorhome anywhere in the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey, or the whole of Europe if this is included in your policy.
• Motorhome recovery – if your motorhome can’t be fixed roadside, we’ll arrange for it to be taken to the nearest garage to be repaired quickly.
• Onward travel – If your vehicle will take more than a few hours to be fixed, we can arrange alternative travel and/or emergency accommodation for you and up to six passengers!
• Renewal reminders – A month before your policy expires, we’ll send you a renewal reminder so you can be sure you’re always covered in the event of an unexpected breakdown.
Standard vehicle cover only insures a specified vehicle – whereas personal breakdown cover applies to you as an individual, meaning that you’re fully covered and insured on any vehicle you use. With our personal breakdown cover, you can add up to four people (living at the same address) to your policy.
The only vehicle details we’ll need from you are for the vehicle you use the most, and it’s important to note that personal cover can only be bought for driving in the UK – so keep this in mind if you’re looking for insurance with European breakdown cover.
